The 2025/26 academic year marked 25 years of performance science at the RCM. Performance Science ²⁵ has been a celebration of the College’s leadership in the field of performance science, highlighting the innovative – and often unconventional – perspectives and partnerships that have fuelled our ambitious agenda of research, teaching and knowledge exchange.

The anniversary has been punctuated by showcase events offering interdisciplinary perspectives on performance research, training and career development. In February 2026, we were delighted to receive the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Education for ‘shaping the future of music education through applied performance science’, presented at an investiture ceremony at St James’s Palace.
